She Leads Africa will launch the She Hive, an innovative professional bootcamp, in more than 5 countries in 2016. The weeklong bootcamps are designed to help young professionals develop their career and business skills, join a community of leaders, and network with mentors and investors.
Piloted in September 2015, the Lagos edition included over 30 sessions covering topics such as raising seed capital, communicating with your customers and using data and analytics to drive business decisions. Experts included Andrea Barrica, Venture Partner of global seed fund and accelerator 500 Startups; Enitan Denloye Director of Brands and Experience for Etisalat Nigeria and entrepreneur; and investor Ndidi Nwuneli.
2016 will see She Leads Africa expand the She Hive to reach more cities, connect with more ambitious young women and bring in more pan-African and global experts. The first stop will be in Accra, Ghana from January 20-24 with more than 15 sessions of training and mentorship, expert led classes and resources covering the topics that young professional women need to know in order to succeed.
On what to expect for the Accra event, SLA co-founder Yasmin Belo-Osagie pointed out a number of exciting additions to the She Hive format. “At She Hive Accra, we’ll have a virtual pass for community members who are unable to physically attend the event. We’re also launching SLA co-founder Office Hours which will allow entrepreneurs to book time with an SLA co-founder to discuss strategy or to review their pitch deck.” She explained. “As former strategy consultants, the SLA team is trained to help businesses reach their potential and we’re excited to share those skills with our community.” Interested participants can sign up for the She Hive here.
After Accra, the She Hive will move on to Abuja, Nigeria in March 2016 and then Nairobi, Kenya in June 2016. She Leads Africa is encouraging members of the public to vote here for where they’d like to see the She Hive visit and that feedback will help choose the final 3 cities.
