On Friday the 2nd day of October, 2015, Chivas Regal, a Scottish luxury whiskey company announced the launch of the Nigerian maiden edition of “The Venture” in partnership with Co-Creation hub Lagos. The Venture, a social entrepreneurship initiative was instituted by Chivas Regal to give support to outstanding startups and social entrepreneurs from all over the country who are solving social problems while creating financial value by giving them access to $1 million in funding and resources.
The luxury company which is known for style, unique craftsmanship and custom blends, being in existence since 1786, was founded by the Chivas brothers. The company has since then proven its commitment to supporting community based projects. Extending their hands of support to Nigerian social entrepreneurs is a definite welcome development as said entrepreneurs would not only have maximum exposure for their enterprises but will also have access to business advice from top brass in the business community as well as expert support.
Addressing the public, Mr Sola Oke Marketing Director, Pernod Ricard Nigeria has this to say:
“We’re excited to announce the launch of The Venture and can’t wait to discover aspiring entrepreneurs across Nigeria. Whether your business focuses on technology, agriculture, healthcare, food or the environment, we want to hear about it.”
The Venture is riding on the heels of the brand’s new campaign tagged ‘Win The Right Way‘ a slogan that preaches the notion that companies are not just obligated to their shareholders but the society as well. This year’s edition will see applicants going through three stages of competition with just 15 contestants making it through to the Seminal Boot Camp. The overall winner in Nigeria will be revealed in December and he/she will automatically be gaining a spot in the international stage of the competition. Chocolate City Group President Audu Maikori will be chairing the panel of judges at the event.
