In line with their aim of driving economic growth, creating jobs and enhancing the competitiveness of the Niger Delta, Focus Hub has launched the Focus Hub Internship Program (FIP). This program is targeted at young graduates in the Niger Delta, equipping them with relevant skills, network, and also preparing them for future engagements within and outside the organisation.

Startup Nigeria caught up with Ugonna, Jehu and Victor this week on their experiences so far;

Ugonna, who until a few weeks ago, barely knew about the hub’s activities and impact, now describes it as “the solution to Niger Delta entrepreneurs’ issues”. In one week, Focus Hub has inspired her to be selfless, instilling in her a deep desire to contribute to her community with her skills while making profit.

On expectations about the future, Victor believes the hub has the potential of developing world class start-ups that will address major social and economic challenges in the region, thereby creating employment and wealth.

Speaking about the organisational culture, Jehu describes it as amazing and energetic; with very co-operative staff, willing to share knowledge from their wealth of experience; ‘I think that is wonderful’ he says.

As part of its objectives, Focus Hub hopes to have developed digital skills in 4000 young people between the ages of 18-40 over the next 5 years, supported 1000 small businesses in the region through mentoring, market linkages, trainings, business development services and would have helped generate 5000 jobs in 5 years.
