FocusHub is a Niger Delta based technology entrepreneurship and social innovation hub that aims to create sustainable business models aimed at solving socio-economic issues across the region. Niger Delta is a region filled with unexplored, un-tapped vast human resources. At Focushub, we recognise the need to boost and give support to these un-discovered talents hence the desire to open our doors to the tech public.
Over the past few months we have committed our time and resources to fostering technological growth in the region through our quarterly community programs such as the Girls-in-ICT initiative- a program which seeks to encourage and increase female participation in ICT by connecting young females interested in technology related disciplines with established female mentors in the tech world.
We have also organised and sponsored various IGNITE editions with the aim of tackling tech related challenges in the Niger Delta tech eco-system, bringing together like-minds to discuss best-practices in the industry while intimating participants with opportunities and avenues for growth and development.
We are passionate about our locale because we believe that the Niger Delta can contribute more to the growth of technology in the country. This is why we are not just looking to attract new startups to the hub, on the contrary, we are looking to provide mentorship and coaching to would-be founders and co-founders to ensure that their startups are able to compete favourably on the global scene.
Successful startups ultimately mean job-creation for the region; we are on a mission to create 3000 jobs by 2020, this is why we would also be providing incubatees with technical and financial support, co-working spaces as well as networking opportunities.
We believe that sustainable development is the key to a free-standing economy and fostering digital entrepreneurship in the Niger Delta would go a long way to positioning the region as one to contend with on the global tech map in the coming years.
