Sometime in August, StartupNigeria reported the inauguration of a new awards program- 2015 World Entrepreneurship Awards, which was to be hosted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The awards program sought to recognize the impact that high-growth SMEs make, leveraging on ICT for innovative and social good.
Said event held in Hungary recently and saw Kenyan startups TotoHealth an SMS run platform that helps reduce maternal and child mortality and M-Shamba – a platform where small holder farmers interact, emerge among the top five winners.
In line with ITU’s goals and objectives, the winning startups will have global recognition as an innovative ICT4D solutions provider as well as networking access to potential international public and private sector partners and customers.
Congratulations to TotoHealth and M-Shamba for making Africa proud.
