WeChat, a free messaging and calling app has concluded plans to invest $3.5 million in African tech startups. According to them, the overall vision is to seed and support local entrepreneurs and technology innovations by providing financial support to help them easily get on the WeChat platform, thereby connecting them instantly to a large database of users.
What’s more interesting is the fact that mobile tech startups and startups who are looking to launch their WeChat exclusive services would definitely be on the frontline of the selection process.
Tech Company, Batstones would be overseeing this entire process as eligible applicants would have to undergo an application and screening process. Lucky startups that make it through the first application stage would then get an invitation to participate in the series of workshops to be hosted by Batstones.
If you think your startup has what it takes to make the cut, then you probably want to get your pitch decks ready for January, 2016 when they will commence the application process.
