A few months ago, Startup Nigeria reported the launch of the Nigerian maiden edition of “The Venture”- a social entrepreneurship initiative brought to you by Chivas Regal in partnership with Co-Creation hub Lagos.
Several individuals sent in applications but only a few emerged as finalists, amongst who are Kelvin Ogholi, Jeremiah Bulus, Akintoyese Sanda, Angel Adelaja and Babatude Alayande.
Chivas Regal is a Scottish luxury whiskey company known for style, unique craftsmanship and custom blends, being in existence since 1786, was founded by the Chivas brothers. The company has since then proven its commitment to supporting community based projects.
The Venture search which began in October saw a pool of applicants trimmed down to 15 finalists, they were then invited to a 2-day boot camp which was anchored by Co-Creation hub. The completion saw the finalists pitch their ideas to a panel of judges moderated by Audu Maikori, President of the Chocolate City Group. The pitch competition saw 5 contestants emerge as finalists.
The Venture was instituted by Chivas Regal to give support to outstanding startups and social entrepreneurs from all over the country who are solving social problems while creating financial value by giving these businesses access to $1 million in funding and resources.
The overall winner is expected to emerge next week, congratulations to all who have made it this far.
