Google Developer Group Port Harcourt is a platform where Software Developers, Engineers and anybody interested in computing meet to brainstorm and learn how to provide automated solutions to processes using Google Technologies. We hold meetings and organize events like Code Sprints, Hackathons, speaker sessions and school challenges. Our meetings will always be free and open to the general public.
As part of our impact driven experience, this season, GDG Port Harcourt is organizing Study Jams around the Udacity Developing Android Apps: Android for Beginners course. Study Jams are an opportunity for students to receive free, in-person guidance and tutoring on the Udacity course in a fun classroom environment.
Study Jam sessions are designed around the Udacity course structure, with a weekly session following each lesson (3 lessons), plus two additional weeks for completing and sharing course final projects. Students are expected to come to the Study Jam sessions having completed that week’s Udacity lesson online, so that the Study Jam time may be used to review key concepts, address questions, and work on individual projects. The live community atmosphere and tutoring is designed to help students achieve deeper learning around the concepts taught in the course. Study Jams are run by each local Google Developer Groups or other developer meetups all over the world.
This event would be held at the University of Port Harcourt and would begin with an Introduction to Java & launch of Java User Group (JUG) Port Harcourt.
Participants are encouraged to make the best use of this opportunity as there would be projects launched at the end of this study jams and attendees who complete the lecture videos and build a simple Android application will be awarded Google verified certificates.
Company representatives are advised to join in the study as there will be provision for an interface and meeting with potential product/solution developers that will surely be of great asset to businesses in the Nigeria ecosystem.
