To qualify, you must be a citizen of any of these 34 African countries where you are also expected to send in your applications from; Algeria, Angola, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Republic of Guinea, Republic of the Congo, Reunion, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
All you have to do is ensure your idea tackles the challenges of your current locale, prepare a pitch that will clearly demonstrate how your idea would solve these challenges. 10 of the best ideas in each country will be shortlisted courtesy of a Jury of 10 outstanding business men and women from each participating country. The finalists will then be invited to pitch their projects once again to the jury of which 3 winners will emerge. The three finalists will receive individual coaching and financial support for their projects and will also get to use the “Startupper of The Year Label”. Nigerian winners will also have a slice each of 12 Million naira cumulatively.
